The Delhi High Court on Tuesday allowed bail to Safoora Zargar, 27 year old student of Jamia Milia Islamia University under custody for alleged conspiracy behind Delhi riots, after the Delhi Police stated that it had no objection to her release on humanitarian grounds.
An M.Phil Student of Jamia Millia Islamia, Safoora Zargar, was arrested under the ‘Unlawful Activities Prevention Act’ (UAPA) for her active involvement in the Delhi Riots in February 2020 and the protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). She has been denied bail for the third time on June 4 by Additional Sessions Court Judge Dharmender Rana after a four hour long hearing at Patiala Court in Delhi. She is also the Media Coordinator of the Jamia Coordination Committee (JCC). This is Zargar's third unsuccessful denied bail plea.
